Bowser and Norton help pave the way for Walter Reed Market

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser recently joined Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton and community leaders to officially open the Walter Reed Market in the Northwest.

When complete, the Marketplace will include a new Whole Foods Market, retail, condominiums, apartments and a cohabitation residential community, the mayor’s office said, calling the project another example of how the city uses federal lands for resources and amenities. residents and communities need it.

The Hartley will serve as the centerpiece of the market and will feature 323 rental units, including 32 affordable units.

Bowser also recently celebrated the grand opening of two additional buildings – the Kite House and 1155 Dahlia Street.

When complete, the Kite House will include 109 units for sale, including nine affordable units, and 11,000 square feet of commendable retail.

Bowser’s office is assisting the residences at 1155 Dahlia Street which will include 60 cohabitation units designed to help diversify and amplify the housing available in Ward 4. The property will also include 248 fully furnished bedrooms, 38 of which are designated as affordable.
