Chef-run ‘Manhattanville Market’ community food court is mouth-watering in Harlem

After nearly three years of creation, a multi-concept food hall, Manhattanville Market, opened on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, 3227 Broadway, within Columbia universities in Harlem.

Open to both the university community and the general public, the ‘upside down’ architectural feeling with large room windows offers new affordable culinary dining options for the neighborhood.

Created by chef Franklin Becker in partnership with Columbia University, the venue will initially host four fast and casual dining options: Butterfunk Biscuit led by chef Chris Scott, Mediterranean-inspired Shai Hummusiya, Sicilian pizzeria Benny Casanova’s and the The Botanist salad concept.

Committed to hiring staff from the surrounding area, Becker and his team seek to work with as many local vendors, vendors, and community culinary talent as possible.

Later this fall, a full-service Spanish tapas restaurant, Oliva, will open, offering a full beverage menu in the space.
