Crews Respond to Smell of Gas in Marketplace Plaza, Rollover of Dump Truck on Highway 8

The Shelton Fire Department responded to subsequent calls last week.

At 8:56 a.m., the Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 and Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident, the vehicle exited. the road and struck a house at the 300 block of River Road.

At 4:12 pm, Huntington Co. No. 3 and White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with two engines and a ladder truck to a fire alarm activation at an address on Walnut Tree Hill Road. There was no fire. The cooking smoke has triggered the alarm.


At 9:57 pm, Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and ladder truck to TJ Maxx, 865 Bridgeport Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire.

At 10:25 p.m., the Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to assist police with a disabled vehicle on Bridgeport Avenue and Access Road.

Wednesday November 17th

On 11/17/21 at 7:59 p.m., Echo Hose H&L Co. # 1, Pine Rock Park Co. # 4 and Huntington Co. # 3 responded with three engines and a rescue truck to a vehicle fire at engine at the Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling Plant, 90 Oliver Terrace.

Thursday November 18

At 6:45 am, Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on Shelton Avenue in Aspetuck Trail.

At 6:47 am, Huntington Co. No. 3 and White Hills Co. No. 5 responded to Isinglass Road with a burning utility pole.

At 8:57 a.m., the Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1, Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4, and the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine and rescue truck to the smell of natural gas. in the building at Marketplace Plaza, 395 Bridgeport Ave. Firefighters checked many occupations in the plaza and discovered that the smell of gas was coming from Taco Co. stoves.

At 10:14 am, Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and rescue truck on Commerce Drive.

At 11:59 am, Huntington Co. No. 3 and White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to an Applewood Drive address for fire alarm activation.

Friday November 19

At 7:45 a.m., Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between Exits 12 and 13. Firefighters worked to free a trapped person in a large dump truck that had overturned on its side.

At 9:17 p.m., the Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with a unit at Kneen Street to an unknown alarm.

At 9:32 p.m., White Hills Co. No. 5, Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and ladder truck to a Stendahl Drive address for smoke in the to house. The food in the kitchen was the cause.

Saturday 20 November

At 6:23 am, Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 and Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with two engines at Papere Ridge for activation of a carbon monoxide alarm.

At 12:16 p.m., Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1, Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4, and White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with three engines and a ladder truck. a fire alarm sounded at the BrightView Shelton Complex, 30 Beard Saw Mill Road. There was no fire.

At 4:54 p.m., Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines to a fire alarm in an office building at 1000 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire.

At 8:46 pm, Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 and Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and rescue truck to a Golec Avenue address for an odor investigation.

Sunday November 21

At 10:14 am Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a diesel fuel leak on Algonkin Road.

At 10:41 am, Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and ladder truck to a fire alarm at the Hilton Garden Inn, 25 Old Stratford Road. There was no fire.

Monday 22 November

At 1:27 a.m., Huntington Co. No. 3 and Echo Hose H&L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between outputs 12 and 13.
