Find the perfect Christmas gift at Lo Nuestro market in Deltona

Showcasing a vibrant array of unique Ecuadorian handmade items, Lo Nuestro Market in Deltona is the perfect place to shop for gifts this holiday season.

“The main thing we’re proud of is that you won’t find the same thing twice,” said owner Nancy Parra. “Everything is one of a kind. “

With an eclectic collection of items ranging from artwork, jewelry and bags to ponchos, peace pipes and hammocks, not only is everything at Lo Nuestro Market handmade by Nancy’s family in Ecuador, but everything is also organic.

“We only use objects found in nature,” Nancy said. “For example, the dolls are made from coconut hair and corn husks, the blankets are made from alpaca wool, and the jewelry is made from orange peel, cantaloupe and pumpkin seeds. We paint feathers, make rosaries from rose petals, hand paint napkin rings, and use fruits and vegetables for coloring.

The reason behind their use of only natural materials is tradition. “Our ancestors only used what the earth gave them,” Nancy said. “So we try to continue this tradition and use only what the earth offers us.”

Meaning “Our Market,” Lo Nuestro Market opened in May of this year, but has always been a dream for Nancy and her family. “When I decided I wanted to open the store, I told my family in Ecuador, I told them it was my dream, and everyone helped me,” said Nancy. “One family member makes the wind chimes, another makes the tablecloths and dresses. For me, every time they send me the merchandise it’s like Christmas because I never know what I’m going to have.

Family business, Nancy, her husband Carlos and their children Eduardo and Emilia make each customer’s experience in the market an educational experience. “When a client comes in, I explain to them what it is all about and the story behind each item,” Nancy said. “Because the goal is not only to sell items, but also to educate the community about Ecuadorian culture and history. “

The Lo Nuestro Marketplace still has sales and discounts on their merchandise, and currently offers 5% off to serving military and veterans alike, in honor of Nancy and Carlos’ son, who has just started basic training.

The Lo Nuestro Market is located at 1701 Doyle Road in Deltona. Shops are open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and although they are generally closed on Sundays, for the December holidays, they are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
