“The primary goal of the platform is to accelerate the identification, product development, subsequent purchase and deployment of scalable technology solutions that are poised to transform the global mining industry,” said Don Duval , CEO, in a statement. “With our global network, operating underground mine, and suite of accelerator and innovation services, we believe we are well positioned to support the technological transformation underway in the mining industry. “

NORCAT’s aspiration to be a global one-stop-shop is rooted in its unique assets and services, including the NORCAT Underground Center, an operating mine designed to enable innovators to develop, test and showcase emerging technologies.

“Over the past three years, we have engaged mining, supply and service companies to help us build and pilot our platform,” added Duval. “Most recently, we worked closely with Vale to organize a global challenge to identify and support three technology companies to develop solutions related to foundry acid management; vigilance of underground operators; and influx of materials into underground mines.

Vale said she was delighted to partner with NORCAT.

“We are excited to be working with NORCAT and leveraging the Open Innovation Platform to help Vale accelerate the identification, development, testing and subsequent deployment of solutions that not only address our challenges, but also provide support to the mining industry more broadly, ”Anthony Downs said a director of Vale. “NORCAT’s network across multiple industries and geographies, coupled with its unique test mine and product innovation and development service offerings, make it a partner of choice. “
