Bread has been called the stick of life for centuries because it is a staple food that sustains life. We are fortunate to have vendors in the market with both wonderful bread and bread toppings to enjoy at any meal.
Napa Baking Company sells delicious cranberry nut bread that can be enjoyed toasted with cultured butter from Achadinha Cheese Company or made into a lovely French toast for a weekend morning. Whisk together a good pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar, a pinch of vanilla and salt, 1 cup of milk and three eggs. Dip the slices of bread in the mixture and cook in the butter on both sides until golden brown and serve with maple syrup and mimosas. A great way to start the day.
West Won Bread has a wonderful sourdough bread that’s perfect for toast with Honey A and Bee Provisions. Or try it with mushrooms on toast. Slice a mixture of Wild West Fungi mushrooms and cook until tender in butter. Add any Triple T Ranch and Farm herbs of your choice and season with the juice of half a lemon, S&P. You can have fun with the recipe by adding garlic, diced shallot, a dash of sherry or cream, or red pepper flakes. Top the toast with the mushroom mixture and a poached egg and parsley for garnish and enjoy any time of the day.
