Women’s Power Market Celebrates Local Women-Owned Businesses | Positive local news

ROCKFORD (WREX) – Summer is in full swing and setups like today’s have attracted hundreds of people to browse and buy.

The Women’s Power Market and Vendor’s Fair on Sunday provided an opportunity for dozens of local business owners, while celebrating women’s empowerment.

Evangelina Jimenez, owner of Indigo Beauty Boutique, organized Female Energy as a marketplace to give back to female business owners in Forest City.

“There are so many awesome things here, so many awesome women doing amazing things, so by networking with everyone you really start to make friends as well as business collaborations,” said assistant planner Anastasia Johnston. .

Female Energy has shown that women not only network and grow their business, but live their passion.

“So I really love to photograph and especially women to show them how beautiful they are,” says Melissa Vanhorn, owner of Red Lips and Honey Photography. “I feel like women often don’t see that. So it’s fun to be able to give those portraits back to them and allow them to really see what everyone else can see about them.”

Event organizers say a big part of the purpose of this event is to build relationships, and vendors agree.

“I love seeing women thrive and strive to be the best they can be, so if they were all able to come together in an atmosphere like this and encourage each other, I think we can do anything. “said Dana Ray, owner of Sweet Gifts and Company of Baby Ray.

More than 50 companies were present at the fair on Sunday. According to event organizers, a location for next year’s event has not been chosen. Planning for next year, however, has already begun.
